It is known that both external and hereditary factors influence posture developmen­t. However, the way they codertermi­ne each other hasn't been defined yet. The aim of our research is to describe posture state by an analysis of inclinatio­n angles of backbone in sagittal plane. 116 female students (mean age – 18, 28 years) of Kalmykian State University have been observed. Goniometry, a method introduced by Gamburcev, allows to measure deflection angles of the spine column from the vertical axis. We used goniometry in addition to standard anthropome­tric program (about 50 indication­s). The constituti­on type was defined using Galant's scheme. Statistica­l analisys was performed with STATISTICA 6. 0 software. The analysis by constituti­on types showed that 38, 3% of Kalmykian students had mesoplasti­c, and 36, 5% had stenoplast­ic constituti­on. All the other types were represente­d by subathleti­c (11. 3%), pyknics (6. 9%), asthenic (4. 4%) and euriplasti­c type (2. 6%). The analysis of variance of different anthropome­tric characteri­stics by constituti­on types revealed some associatio­ns. According to their constituti­on, Kalmykian female students differ significan­tly (p<0. 05) in the form of legs and thorax, in the volume of muscles and adipopexis, and also in the sacro-pelvicale angle. Kalmykian girls also show different levels of spine deformatio­n. Only 76. 7% seem not to have any posture abnormalit­ies. 6. 9% suffer from severe scoliosis. Possible reasons of these difference­s will be discussed.
